Learn more about la digue

La Digue

La Digue is the fourth largest granitic island in the Seychelles archipelago and is home to one of the world’s most photographed beaches, La Source D’Argent.

Motorized vehicles are restricted on the Island, the main means of transport is by bicycle or on foot.

Most visitors to La Digue spend their time lounging on the pristine beaches and photographing the amazing scenery, but for those more active there are some beautiful hikes around the island and to the summit which can be undertaken either alone or with a guide.

To transfer from Mahé to La Digue, first you need to transfer to Praslin Island and then you take a 15 minute ferry ride to La Digue. The transfer to Praslin can be done in two ways, by boat or air:

By Boat – Cat Cocos Inter Island Ferry

The Cat Cocos boat departs from the Inter island Ferry Terminal in Victoria. This is a 15 minute taxi ride from the airport (cost approx. R300). There is also a free shuttle provided by Cat Cocos from the airport to the ferry terminal, please look for notices on arrival or enquire at the Creole travel services desk. You can purchase your ticket at the time of your departure or you can purchase the ticket in advance using the 'ferry schedule & booking' link below. You should plan to arrive 30 minutes before the ferry departs. Please note that the sea can be rough and when it is, many passengers suffer from sea sickness.

By Air – Air Seychelles

The transfer by air is generally more expensive than the boat transfer but is often more convenient as flights leave throughout the day whereas the boat transfer has very limited departure times. Flights leave from the Domestic terminal situated right next to the international terminal at the airport. Flights may be booked on the Air Seychelles website, www.airseychelles.com . On arrival on Praslin. You must take a taxi to the jetty, the taxi trip is 20 minutes and costs approximately R300.

Praslin to La Digue ferry

If you have come by ferry from Mahe, you may well have been able to buy a ferry ticket through to La Digue in which case you will only need to change boat to the smaller Cat Cocos on Praslin. If you do not have a ticket through to La Digue, or if you have arrived on Praslin by air, you can do the transfer to La Digue on ferry Cat Roses, tickets can be purchased on the Praslin jetty.
